We stayed at this campground just as a retreat from the rainy weekend near our home. It was only a two hour ride south so it was worth it. The staff seemed friendly enough and being off season, allowed us to essentially pick our own spot. What we found was a campground that was being allowed to become rundown. The picnic tables were rotting and the fencing around the tennis court had the gates lying on the ground. Perhaps since this was the next to last weekend they were planning on going over it after the park closed for the winter. We did notice that a high percentage of the seasonal occupants were living in the "Park Trailer" style mobile homes with attached sun rooms. It reminded me more of a trailer park then it did a campground. The main road in and out is pretty tight for a 37 foot MH so you have to look close to miss the trees. Although they advertise Wi-Fi, we were only 200 yards away from the office and had such a weak signal that it was useless. When we pulled out I decided to fill my Propane tank but found I should have asked how much first. At $4.00 per gallon that cost me $67.00. Live and learn. Although we did have a pleasant stay, this was near the shore so the sites were 100 percent sand and that was too much of a hassle keeping it out of the motor home that we most likely won't go back. I'll look for a place with cement or gravel when I do go back to the shore.

This was one of the last campsites we wanted to try this season in our quest for the perfect weekend getaway. We really were excited to finally get the opportunity to spend the weekend since it was booked all summer. We soon realized that was because the place was loaded with seasonal campers. The first annoying thing was setting up the reservation in which they take checks or cash only meaning that you either mail them a check or hand over all the bank routing information and they draw your deposit directly from your account. We were there the last weekend of the season (10/31) and the cost per night for a back in site was the full $45 per night. Very much over priced for the services they provide even if it was the regular season. Average pool, small rec room, a pool table outside, a tennis court and basketball court. We had our dog with us and they are not dog friendly at all meaning there is no area for you to exercise your dog, you just walk him through the park. They advertise Wi-Fi but we were only half way through the park and did not receive any signal at all and all of the leaves were down. I won't knock it too bad since the sites were fairly level, covered with crushed stone, cable TV was good as well as the water pressure. The place is heavily wooded at all of the sites so in the summer I'm sure it's very comfortable. However, we will be scratching this one off of our list.

In our search for the perfect weekend getaway campground we ended up here at Mt. Pocono Campground. This one is a 2 hour drive from our home which is within the distance we decided was acceptable for a Friday night through Sunday getaway. We arrived after dark on Friday night which wasn't the best of times driving a 37 foot motorhome and having reserved a wooded back-in site. Although the office was closed we soon noticed the owner was working her way over without us having to make a call. She was very pleasant and even offered us a pull through due to the darkness. I opted to stick with the plan. We stayed in site W3 which was a great lot and easy enough to back into. We were very happy with this site. The next day we walked the entire camp ground looking to see what was available. What we found on this very large campground was that about 90 percent were seasonal campers leaving only about 8 pull through sites available for transient campers with a few seasonal spots temporarily available throughout the year. The staff and all of the campers we met were very nice. The recreation hall was fairly modern with two sitting rooms loaded with hundreds of books to read as well as two computers ready for internet browsing. Upstairs was a fairly complete fitness room with a good deal of nice clean equipment. Everything was just as stated, cable, Wi-Fi, clean water, we asked for a 30 amp site and that's what we were provided. We had our 8 month old Springer Spaniel with us and were pleased to find a sizable exercise yard for us to play ball. Between that, the nature trail, and the size of the campground we had one happy and tired puppy. The only reason I couldn't give this campground a 10 is because we usually travel with our motorcycle most of the time and the road into the campground was loaded with large loose stones as well as pockets of soft dirt, these two combination's are extremely hazardous. It's because of this that I don't rate this as one of my top choices. If I didn't have a motorcycle then this would be a 10 and on the top of my list of places to stay.

We spent the weekend here. It's a small place with over 70% of the sites occupied by seasonal campers. From what we saw, most of the seasonal campers kept their places up really well, there are those few that don't seem to try as hard. The one owner mentioned that their plan was to free up more of the seasonal sites as they come available for transients. This park is under new ownership as are a lot of them it seems. The new owners are a couple in their 40's that have always camped and enjoy it so much they decided to buy their own campground. They're doing some nice things: what looks to be a new and very large recreation hall, and putting red mulch all around the weekend sites which really adds to the look of the place. Although we didn't use the bathrooms, I can only assume they are as well kept as the rest of the place. We had our dog with us and the guests there seemed very pet friendly. We stayed in site #71 which was a pull through on a corner lot with full hookups. I reserved the site again for the third week in October as they're booked solid for the Halloween weekend. Wi-Fi was available down at the rec-center but my guess is that if you have an external Wi-Fi antenna you may get a signal at your site. We really liked this place as well as the owners and will be spending some more time here.

We just spent the weekend at this campsite. It was just a two-night stay with us arriving on Friday night around 6:00 pm and pulling out at around 2:00 pm on Sunday. Having a 3:00 check out is really convenient since it allowed us to get another ride in on the bike and still have time to relax a bit before packing it in. Every one we spoke with was really friendly and had nothing but good things to say about the new owners and how they've really turned the place around. We have a dog so a year ago I guess we wouldn't have been able to stay there with him. We enjoyed the really spacious grassy lots although I didn't have enough leveling blocks to compensate for the uneven slope of the lot. I was able to level it but the rear wheels were off the ground. Our site was "I" up top and even with the elevation our antenna wasn't able to receive any channels that lasted very long. I was told they are looking into cable. The internet was available so that provided a little distraction. We invited another couple over after a ride on Saturday for a little BBQ. Telling the owner they were only going to be there for a few hours convinced him to charge only $8 each rather than the posted $15 each for day visitors. The site was $44 per day which I though was a little high and the $15 per day for guests is too high. The fact that we didn't get any TV reception at all makes cable a must especially if it's a rainy visit. I'd have to bring a lot more leveling pads if we decide to stay there again. All in all though we had a good experience and would definitely go back.
